Nov 16

Mrs. McDonald is away at a workshop today and Thursday, but we have Ms. Russel in! Mrs. McDonald will be there for the evening dance performances :))

Reminder: Tomorrow is the Sound Kreations performance. Today was our last practice. Please be here early as each performance is only a few minutes long. Please remember to have your child wear dark black or blue pants or jeans with a bright, colourful shirt (patterned or plain!).

Stephen's Backpacks
Royal Oak School is supporting Stephen’s Backpacks this holiday season.
The backpacks we are filling are for children who range in age from infant to grade 4. We are looking for donations of new items that can go inside of a backpack (toques, mitts, puzzles, pajamas, socks, baby items, etc). These items can be sent to school with your child and they will be placed under the tree in the gathering space.

We will begin collecting items in the gathering space beginning on Monday November 14th and will be accepting donations until Friday December 9th.

Today in Science
We wrote reflections on our Boats and Buoyancy Science concepts: load, waterproofing, balance, density, displacement, and buoyancy. We wrote about ideas which we remembered and did experiments for, and used pictures, diagrams, and sentences to record our thoughts.

Social Inquiry
We started our Pioneer Journal entry Number 3. Ask me what I wrote about!

Math
We learned a new method involving the number line, and used it to practice adding two numbers together. We started with 0 and then later tried starting with the biggest number instead. We also tried to solve the same problem by "hopping" by tens, then "skipping" by 5's and lastly "jumping" by ones. Ask me which way I like the best!
