MATH:
Today we continued our exploration of breaking a number into smaller, 'friendly' numbers such as ten's, five's and one's and represent on the open number-line. Students worked in teams on large chart paper. Our goal wasn't to just provide an answer, but to represent our ideas and communicate our thinking with each other. We continue to encourage students to incorporate mathematical language into their vocabulary when speaking about Math. These include words like equations, addition, increasing, adding-on, equal to, same as, balanced and efficient. Please ask your child about their "math walk" where they were provided with sticky notes and walked around to observe other students work.
