STEM Lab Day 2

STEM Lab Day 2!
Students were able to engage with LEGO WeDo Robotics kits. They explored builder software in cooperative groups. Ask them about what they chose to build!

A biologist expert in the area of animal adaptations came in and challenged us to consider how animals in cold climates have adapted to their environment. Students were challenged to 'adapt' an Arctic animal to a desert climate.

Here is an example of one idea from Joey, "If an Arctic fox had to live in the desert it would have to have really sharp teeth to eat lizards (scaly skin) and long claws to get water out of a cactus."

We watched a powerful video on animals of the Arctic. Students were challenged to journal their observations on an animal that was unfamiliar to them.

We had a Maker Space Expert guide a hands-on activity where students built on their understanding of the habitats of Arctic animals.
