Math

Students continue to use a Mathematical lens to delve into the design, building and testing of bridges. We are using word problems and the 'CUBES' strategy to solve them.

For example, we asked the students to consider that their bridge would have 7 tuk tuk's cross each hour. How many tuk tuk's would cross the bridge in total after 6 hours?

We examined it through
Repeated Addition

We used the open number line!

We looked at repeated numbers (6*7=42) in a place-value chart to see how multiplication can result in regrouping! For example, we found 4 tens that we were able to move over from the 1's column! Our answer was 42!

We will be trying the box method to multiply a double-digit by a single-digit number by breaking the numbers into 'Expanded Notation'

Social Studies

We are continuing to critically think about and compare/contrast Canada and India using a variety of templates.

Literacy

Making connections to reading but understanding what we are reading within the Design Thinking Lens.

Science

We have been very busy designing bridges to cross India's Yamuna River.

We have been using a variety of stories and articles to provide insight in Design Thinking, Architecture, and engineering. Some of the texts we have used are:
