Jersey Day
To celebrate the Calgary Flames starting the 2019 NHL playoffs we are encouraging students to wear their Flames gear this Thursday, April 11th. If interested, students are encouraged to wear any sport team jersey, shirt, or hat, ROS shirts or hoodies.
Class Photo Day
Thursday, April 11th is also Class Photo Day. Each class will take a class photo all together.
Math
We will be embarking on an intensive 5-week review of key Math concepts from grades K-3 including:
1) 2-digit addition (with and without regrouping)
2) 3-digit(or more) addition (with and without regrouping)
3) 2-digit subtraction (with and without regrouping)
4) 3-digit subtraction (with and without regrouping)
5) Division
6) Multiplication
7) Fractions
8) Representing Numbers to 1000
9) Measurement (length and liquids)
10) 2D Shapes
11) Patterns
12) Money
13) Time
14) 3D Objects
15) Estimation
I will endeavour to share a few review strategies each week.
Double-digit addition and subtraction review:
Students should have a strong knowledge of friendly numbers, (the 100's, 10's, 5's and 1's inside a number), place-value and place-value charts, (one's column, ten's column, hundred's column). Here are some examples of ways to explore them:

-demonstrates an understanding of mental math
-uses a variety of ways of representing understanding of mathematical processes
-shows efficiency in the choice of strategy used
-has an accurate answer
-can use an open number-line
-use of a traditional algorithm (called 'stacking;)
-use of a place-value chart (drawing a picture)

Today we had a Circle Meeting to revisit what it means to be Kind and Generous (from our Circle of Courage)
"If you don't feel like you're connected to somebody you should try to get to know them, and then no matter what you might be able to connect to somebody!" -Sasha (Mr. Sandberg's class)
"If you're not connected to somebody it doesn't matter at first if you try playing with them and get something in common after!" Ella (Ms. McDonald's class)
"You don't have to be someone's friend, but it doesn't mean you should be a bully. Being in a community means you have to get along, get to know each other and work together!" -Arrya (Ms. McDonald's class)
"No matter what you can still be a good friend, even if you're not perfect or have a strong connection. Being in a community means you belong and you also share and care about each other even if you don't know each other!" - Japleen (Mr. Sandberg's class)
