HOUSEKEEPING:
This upcoming Tuesday we are going on our fieldtrip
to Studio Bell! Our bus leaves PROMPTLY at
9:15am. Please ensure your child is at school on
time as we will not be able to hold the buses.
Please have your child is dressed for the weather
and send a lunch that doesn’t require hot water.
Thank you to all the parents helping out on this trip,
we couldn’t do it without you!!
SAVE THE DATE!
Grade 2 and 3 Celebration of Learning will be on
Thursday, March 5th from 6-7 pm. Students will
be displaying how they incorporate Art through all
subjects. There will also be a musical component
with Mrs. Mann our music specialist! Stay tuned for
more information :)
Math:
In Math, students have been using the 'CUBES' method to
create and solve several word problems involving multi-digit
addition and subtraction! Students have specifically focused
on subtracting on a number line using strategies such as
Magic 9, skip counting by 10a, Friendly numbers and
Rainbow facts.Ask your student about the book Decibella
and how math and sound are related ;)
Inquiry:
We have begun exploring the STEM
based approaches to problem-solving
called Design Thinking! We read the
a true story titled "One Plastic Bag."
Students worked together to
understand each part of the design as
it related to the story!
- What emotions did you feel?
- What was the problem?
- What did Isatou do to solve the problem?
- Did her first try work? Did she have
- to try more than once?
Social Studies:
Students have been working hard on
deepening their understanding on Peru
by creating detailed “Trading Cards”
that examine the culture
traditions,celebrations, geography and
animals of Peru.
