Dear Grade 3 Parents,
We are so excited to be having our first video conference on Google Meet!
When: Tomorrow! (Thursday, April 9) promptly at 10:00 am.
Who: Grade 3 students - make sure you type in your teacher’s code (see below)
Where: Google Meet (see instructions below)
Why: So that we can finally reconnect and say hello while seeing everybody’s faces!
Please have your Chrome Browser open for best results
Follow these steps to attend your first Google Meet for your class:
1. “Sign in” on Google with your child’s school gmail account (___@educbe.ca)
2. Type into Google search “Google Meet”
OR
Click on Google Apps ico (upper right hand corner),
then, click on Meet icon
4. Click on “Join or start a meeting” and type in your teacher’s meeting code:
(please refer to email sent yesterday)
5. Once you see your teacher’s name is present on the Meet list, then click on “Join Now” icon
(Please Do NOT enter the Meet if your teacher is not there)
The first time you use Google Meet, you will be prompted for permission for the app to use your camera and microphone. You must Allow this prompt for Google Meet to work. You can then click the Dismiss button.
6. Once you enter the room you will be asked to mute your mic by clicking on the “Turn off microphone” icon at the bottom of the screen
To reduce background noise in the meeting, you should always turn your microphone off when you enter the meeting, and when not speaking. You can turn the microphone and camera off using the red buttons.
7. Google meeting WILL NOT be recorded. Teacher, student, and parents are NOT PERMITTED to record or take pictures of the video conference

8. Once the meeting has finished, it is important to leave the meeting room (click “Leave call” icon) and then close the browser tab/window. Please do not re-enter the meeting once it is finished.
